I often collaborate with some of Melbourne’s most talented stylists in creating beautiful dessert tables for christenings. I had the pleasure of collaborating with the lovely and talented Thetis Sardo of Sooti Events for this pretty and elegant display to celebrate the christening of little Paris.
Alex from Avie & Lulu styled a Valentines Day themed party and I was chuffed to once again be involved in one of her events. Hearts, ruffles, pinks and touches of gold set the mood for this gorgeous celebration - which was also featured in the premier issue of UK magazine ‘Cake!’ A great honour indeed – especially since my little ruffle cake adorned the cover! *squeal!*
A christening cake in pale hues of pink and lemon… sigh.
Created for a little girl’s christening, this cake is based on a previous christening cake design of mine that was 3 tiers and featured the Owl & the Pussycat. My blossom bootees adorn the top of this cake.
Top tier white chocolate and raspberry mud filled with a luxurious white chocolate ganache and the bottom tier is an apple and cinnamon cake with a decadent caramel ganache filling.
My sister in law is expecting her first baby in November and didnt want a baby shower. So, of course, her husband’s sister and I organised a surprise baby shower. We wanted one!!! So, in between the lies (white lies), the scheming, the stealing her friend’s phone numbers from her phone, emailing invitations and swearing all guests to secrecy we managed to get everyone in the same room, on time and she had absolutely no idea.
It was fabulous.
My twin sister Fotini had twins late last year (yes, its a dangerous business falling pregnant in my family!!) and for their christening cake I told my her that she would have no say in the cake and I would surprise her…. I know, its cheeky but I did because I can!!
The colours of each tier reflect the colour scheme used on the day. Fotini arranged an amazing rose wreath to decorate the church and we used that to dress the cake table at the reception afterwards. It was such a beautiful day – a busy one too as I was also Godmother to my neice – it was an honour to provide the sweet for these sweet babies!
We have kept the twin figurines as a momento… they are almost as cute as the twins themselves – but not quite!
Bottom and top tiers chocolate fudge cake filled with dark choc0late ganache, middle tier white chocolate mud cake filled with white chocolate ganache.
When my sister announced she was expecting her first child we were all sooo excited! When, a few weeks later, it was revealed that there were 2 babies – fraternal twins – we were all shocked and then elated that the twin gene had again surfaced in the family. You see not only am I a twin with my sister, our mother is also a twin! We also have twin cousins and my father’s sister was also a twin – all identical twin girls!
So, with the impending arrival of another set into the fold, but this time with the possibility that we may have a boy in the mix, I set to work on a pink/blue theme for Fotini’s baby shower.
Pink and blue bows adorned the fondant covered cupcakes… white chocolate and raspberry cupcakes filled with white chocolate ganache and covered with rolled fondant. Yum!
I mixed it up a bit with the cookies – blue, pink, yellow… you never know!
Butter cookies decorated with rolled fondant and royal icing…
