Cupcake Birthday
My eldest decided she wanted to have a cupcake decorating party to mark her 6th birthday. Who was I to argue? So I thought – something low key, just a few friends, I’ll show some restraint, they’ll whack some sprinkles on some cupcakes and hey presto – cupcake decorating party. Um… didnt quite work out that way! Especially in the ‘restraint’ department!!
The design is based on the cutest Paper Eskimo birthday invitations. Dark chock mint mud cake was carved, gaanched and decorated in fondant. All decorations are edible right down to the stripy ‘paper case’. My lovely, graphic designer husband created the artwork for the aprons – who would’ve thought that iron on transfers and calico aprons could look so good!
The children all got to decorate their cupcake boxes with stickers and then the butter cream and decorations came out and they went to town. Each child also had a personalised cupcake place mat, Cute!
These are some I had as ‘samples’ for inspiration.. Each child took home 4 decorated cupcakes. They all had a great time!
A party just isn’t a party without macarons! The birthday girl requested strawberry with freckles.
Happy 6th birthday Julia! All my love, always x
