Princess Pillows
“I just don’t want a cake, I want a centrepiece” was the request from little Eleni’s mum.. a christening celebration that was to take place at one of Melbourne’s luxury hotels demanded nothing less than something spectacular – something fit for a princess!
This cake was sculpted from 3 square cakes, filled with Lindt chocolate ganache and covered with fondant. The bottom tier was quilted and studed with pink crystals, the second tier has a pink and white striped design with piped borders and the top tier featured Eleni’s name in crystals.
All three tiers feature varying types of sugar ropes with the top tier having twisted droplet loops on each corner.
The crown was made from gumpaste and airbrushed with metallic gold liquid food colour. This too was embellished with various crystals – painstaking work but well worth the effort!
The cake certainly was the talking point of the reception!
“Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you!!!!!
The cake was amazing!!!!!!!!
I can’t begin to describe, everyone’s reaction. I have never seen so many
people gather around a cake.”
Well, that’s the kind of reaction we’re after, isn’t it!!
