Waters Edge Dreamtime
I was honoured to take my place amongst Australia’s premier cake artists, stylists and photographers to make my contribution to Australia’s Sweetest Morning Tea. (ASMT) I was paired with the lovely Belinda from Styled by Belle and our work was beautifully photographed by Lee Bird Photography. Our submission is called “Waters Edge Dreamtime”. Rich blues and coppers symbolise our large rugged island nation. Our land made up of lustrous tones of orange earth and our amazing island surrounded by deep blue water. Styled By Belle’s inspiration was to play homage to Modern Australia utilising the textural elements of rock and water. The stunning landscape that frames every vignette is one of true Australian beauty – with sandstone rock walls and a pebble rimmed waters edge.

An Elegant Christening for Stephanie
It’s a rare and beautiful thing to be trusted implicitly with your client’s vision for their event. It is especially humbling when these events mark major milestones in a family’s journey through life. I have had the privilege of creating bespoke cakes for the Vardakis family for 5 years now.. Alex is one half of the talented duo that is Melbourne stylists Avie & Lulu.

The Mati – A Cake Designed to Protect!
The evil eye is a look that is believed by many cultures to be able to cause injury or bad luck for the person at whom it is directed for reasons of envy or dislike. The term also refers to the power attributed to certain persons of inflicting injury or bad luck by such an envious or ill-wishing look.
The ‘mati’ or ‘eye’ is a charm worn to protect against such ill projections and is widely regarded on the Greek culture as protection against many an affliction!
These charms are usually made of glass – hence the high gloss finish to this cake! White chocolate mud cake filled with a lemon scented white chocolate ganache.
