Tennis anyone?
I love making cakes for my family… there usually isn’t a brief, I have free reign over the design and subject matter – and I love seeing their reaction!
– especially for the children. They are also a great opportunity to try techniques I havent yet had the chance to test. So, I make the most of it!
This cake was for my nephew Dimitris. A typical teenage boy who loves the usual things and who also plays competitive tennis. So, having wanted to try my hand at a sphere for a while now I thought a tennis ball was in order. This was great fun to make and I was tempted to leave it ganached and present it as it was and tell him it was a Malteser! I used royal icing to create the textured surface, airbrushed it electric yellow and – voila! Tennis ball!
He LOVED it.
Game, set, match!
