My husband and I had the honour of being little Amelie’s godparents last weekend. I found some adorable hand made owls from Red Stitch Designs via madeit.com.au. Super cute yes?

So, of course, I wanted to incorporate an owl in the design of the cake for this special occasion. Amelie’s mum LOVES cats and asked if I could perhaps include a cat somewhere. So, I got to thinking…hmmmm… an owl and a cat, an owl and a cat…hmmm – of course! (slaps the forehead) The Owl and the Pussycat!

The cake was decorated in pink fondant with soft, full fondant bows, to reflect the colours on the favours. The topper is hand made from gumpaste. I really wanted to put a sail on the boat but the ridiculously hot temperatures of 40 degrees prevented it from standing upright! Us cake decorators really are at the mercy of the elements!!!

The top and bottom tiers are carrot cake filled with a white chocolate ganache with the middle tier being chocolate fudge cake filled with a dark chocolate ganache. It was delicious! (If I say so myself!!!)
